Baptisms are celebrated in both churches of the Parish. The set times are at 5pm on Saturday evenings and at 12:30pm on Sundays.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the Parish Church, St. Mary's Church, Buttevant every two years. The next celebration is due in 2020. The Diocesan Office sets the dates for these ceremonies to fit in with the schedule of the Bishop of Cloyne.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is organised through the two Primary Schools of the Parish and generally children in both Fifth and Sixth Classes are invited to avail of the sacrament. Like the other sacraments, Parent(s) are requested to complete the Application Form for Confirmation attached here and to email it to [email protected], post it or return by hand to The Parochial House, Richmond Street, Buttevant Co. The Children will also need to select a Sponsor for the day of Confirmation. Preferably this Sponsor should be one of the child's godparents to emphasise their continued role as supporter of the child in their growth as young Christians and the Sponsor must have also received their own Confirmation.

Teenagers and Adults are also welcome to apply for the Sacrament of Confirmation. These should be willing to join the school children on the appointed day for the celebration. Teenagers and Adult Candidates will need private catechesis (teaching) classes. These can be organised through the local Parish Priest.

The Parish is very grateful to the dedication and professionalism of the Staff of both Primary Schools in the organisation and preparation of the children for this Sacrament.
